Davinder Singh can be surprisingly insightful sometimes.  My surprise is likely to be borne out of the times I listened to his half-baked ideas.  He said that my obsession with reading when I was younger most probably why I don't remember a lot of things that the siblings do.  I never thought that inhaling books the way I did would be a protective factor.  But he was right.  My perspective about things broadened in a way that would have only been possible if I had people in my life who spoke about such ideas.  I had to discover a lot on my own and some of it was entirely through books.  It's honestly remarkable that I had never thought of this.  And it was also surprising that they remembered the time when I used to read to them, more so when they told me that they liked it!  Now, I don't remember why I decided to borrow those particular books and read them to the siblings.  If I were to guess, it was to probably show them the joy of reading.

It was such a shared experience, living through everything.
