We are such visceral creatures, truly.  We'd like to think that we are cognizant, rational beings who have given due consideration to every move we've ever made in our lives (especially in our adult lives), but really, evolutionary forces are still in control.  Not that they ever lost control.

A circumstance that should not have created the reaction it did still happened today despite the amount of time that was spent to, in all honesty, prepare and plan for the reaction that was desired, that would have caused the least emotional upheaval.  How do we explain this then?  We've learnt in school that any relationship that we build is not left unaffected by our neurochemicals.  They can strengthen or weaken the bonds.  Heartache, pain, loss  - all in the brain.  The physical one.  So really, how are we not creatures at the mercy of our biology (and thus our evolutionary history)?
