Feeling nostalgia for music of the 90s. All I can think about is 1998 and MTV. How I wanted to watch every music video they played because it was all so new and adult-like. I remember being determined to sit through the songs I didn't like, just to make sure that I wasn't missing out on something good. I'd fight with Amarit and Vin for the control of the remote, not understanding why they'd want to watch inane cartoons when they could be watching the awesome songs and videos that MTV was playing. So I stayed up late to watch them and my Dad would relent till my Mom came home from work.
There's something mysterious about the way we start liking music. Its onset seems to coincide with puberty. And for me, there was a distinct moment of when I started to like it immensely from when I was indifferent to it. Even now, it features significantly in my life. I tend to mark periods in my life by the kind of music I was listening to. Like it means something, what I listen to equates to a major emotion of that period.
So now, for tonight, it's Blink 182 and Enema of the State. Love the album cover. I shall restrain the urge to post 'All the Small Things' on Facebook and dedicate it to my Sec 1/2 classmates. It was our class song.
